Ubuntu 是一个完全基于 Linux 的操作系统，它不但免费，而且有专业人员和业余爱好者共同为其提供技术支持。
一、什么是Ubuntu？
Ubuntu（发音“oo-BOON-too”——“乌班图”来自于南非祖鲁语和科萨语,大意是人道待人,对他人仁慈,天下共享的信念,,连接起每个人)。 Ubuntu 爱好者社群背后的理念是“Ubuntu 哲学”：软件应该是免费的，世界各地的用户都应能够用上以他们自己的语言为界面语言的软件，他们能力上的缺失也不应该成为使用软件的障碍。此外，他们也应该拥有按照个人需要任意定制和修改软件的自由。
二、下载Ubuntu
按照电脑种类，安装方式，以及下载方式选择。举例说明，如果需要下载 Intel x86 平台，用图形界面安装，采用FTP/HTTP方式下载，请选择 ubuntu-6.06-desktop-i386.iso 此文件。
1. 电脑种类: PC (Intel x86) - 一般 Intel 系列电脑,Mac (Power PC) - Power PC 系列电脑,64-bit PC (AMD 64) - AMD 64 位处理器
2, 下载方式: FTP/HTTP 下载：国内下载：http://mirrors.cn99.com/ubuntu/,BitTorrent 下载,Jigdo 下载
3. 安装方式: Desktop CD - Live CD，提供图形安装界面，速度快，不支持硬盘安装 Alternate CD - 文字安装界面，支持硬盘安装 Server Install CD - 服务器版本安装，支持硬盘安装
三、安装过程
光盘安装：将电脑设置为从光驱启动，插入安装光盘后的进入启动界面

* Ubuntu中安装nvidia显卡驱动各法: 1, (本人试用失败)sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx sudo nvidia-xconfig 2, (成功)我的是集成的6150，装的是nvidia-glx-new，如果你的显卡不是太旧，一般装new包就成了 安装完后运行 #sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg 选择nvidia驱动及适合的分辨率 还有，我的6150要在xorg.conf把Composite disable掉 重启后就OK了

STEP 1: Review the NVIDIA Software License.

STEP 2: Download the Driver File Download - NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.05-pkg1.run
SuSE users: please read the SuSE NVIDIA Installer HOWTO before downloading the driver.
STEP 3: Install Type “sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.05-pkg1.run” to install the driver. NVIDIA now provides a utility to assist you with configuration of your X config file. Please see Chapter 3 of the README or run 'man nvidia-xconfig' for details on usage. Instructions for those wishing to edit their X config file by hand can also be found in the README.
